WEBSITE DESIGN & DEVELOPMENT PHASES

2 Min Read . May 27, 2017

Pentagon has spent nearly 2 decades in designing and development of smart, enticing and creative websites. Our processes are geared towards meeting specific requirement of our customers and satisfying them with our output.

We build our CMS (content management system) websites on 2 main platforms which is WordPress and Joomla, these allow the organizations to easily update or edit their website as per their requirements. These platforms are so easy to understand and work up on that a normal person without the knowledge of programming can work efficiently on the website.

Designing and developing a truly performing website is a time taking process which requires well defined steps. Following a detailed website design and WPdevelopment process can speed up work and helps client understand the progress of the development.
Let’s take a look at the development process…..

1. Understand background and customer requirement Phase.

Before providing any estimate on the prices, it is essential to first understand the client’s requirement, objective of developing a website and background of the business. The goal of this stage is to understand the goal, scope & requirement of the website project. The final delivery of the first step includes:

  • Answered set of questionnaire.
  • CMS recommendation (based on client’s needs)
  • Scope of work or functionality list.
  • Estimation on prices
  • Project Timeline.

2. Architectural Phase

This is the most importation phase of designing and development of a website. The goal of the architectural phase is to create a blue print of the organization’s new website.

The first step in this phase involves deciding the site map of the website. Sitemap means deciding on the list of all pages on the website. This provides the idea to the designer about the menus structure and underlying elements of the website.

Picture1The next step is to provide the wire-frame of the website. A wire frame gives an idea to the client on the elements to be placed on the website’s homepage and inner pages. It’s a visual document that we use to plan the structure of the website. Please note that the wire-frame does not show color, design, images or text of the website. It only shows the placement of elements.

3. Design Creation & Development of website phase

After the initial conversation between the designer and the client and the prepared Wireframe and sitemap, we will walk the client organization through visual design process; presenting multiple homepage designs and receiving organization’s feedback on the design.

Then we will go through design alterations and tweaking until a successful design has been decided upon. Once the home page design is finalized, we’ll move on to designing the interior landing pages based on the same aesthetics.

4. Programming & Content Migration Phase

In this phase the programmer is shared with the information received from the client including the sitemap, wireframe and detailed description of the functionality of various elements on the website. This step brings out functionality, pages & menus. Once this stage is done, you can see the website in action and begin to see how users interact with your website.

After the CMS have been developed, content insertion takes place at the backend. We also provide client with overall training on how to work with your Content Management System as well as detailed instructions on how to use each area of functionality unique to your site.

5. Beta Testing Phase

Once the website is confirmed with the design changes and twisting and tweaking, the final design is given to the developer and applied to the website. Once all the programming and content entry is done our team sits down for a through proof reading process and Beta Testing. Tests for any site of errors , checks all functionality are operating fine and do final browser testing before making the website officially LIVE. Once this stage is done, we are ready for the final LAUNCH.

6. Launch – GO LIVE

The launch process can simply involve uploading the final website to the specified domain address and pointing your domain name or URL to your hosting company’s server. This process takes several hours depending on if the website is uploading all files manually or taking up all the files in one go.
